Automation Maintenance Technicians – 2ND/3RD

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Play a critical role in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex, automated equipment.
- Execute strategies for automation, controls, and technology, which will reduce costs and improve the quality of Roskam products.
- Interact with other maintenance and engineering department employees, creating a cohesive, cross-functional team for the development and delivery of key projects.
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical and control systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues related to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and other control systems.
- Conduct inspections and tests to identify potential issues before they lead to equipment failure.
- Replace faulty components such as sensors, actuators, motors, and control devices.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Follow company policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Other responsibilities include providing training and technical services at the plant level, continuous improvement activities, and mentoring of manufacturing support employees.
- Participation in the design and startup of new equipment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Industrial Automation, or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical and control systems, preferably in food manufacturing or a similar industrial environment.
- Must have working knowledge of Rockwell Automation software such as, but not limited to, Factory Talk, Panel Builder, Control Logix, RS logix 500/5000, and connected components work bench.
- Experience with plant level communications including Ethernet, RSLinx, FactoryTalk directory.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, diagrams, technical manuals, and understanding of safety circuits.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge and hands-on experience across a wide range of technical equipment including PLCs, VFDs, servos, and HMIs.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Self-starter and motivated to complete tasks with minimal supervision and oversight.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Relevant certifications, such as Journeyman Electrician, and Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT), are a plus.
- Solid capability to use Microsoft Office products.
