Job Purpose: Assemble and test instruments, optics and corresponding sub-assemblies in accordance with engineering specifications with close supervision. Aid in training other associates on items you have been trained on within the cell.
Essential Job Functions:
- Become familiar with the Standard Work Documents related to assembly specifications, blueprints, parts, part numbers and descriptions, becoming proficient at identification and verification.
- Become proficient at assembling, calibrating, testing, and reworking instruments, optics and sub-assemblies per standard work documents. Must be able to achieve a level three training rating in at least one high volume cell and one low volume cell. Notify Supervisor of any print errors, specification errors, tooling problems, breakdowns, and operational problems.
- Maintain a high level of quality during the assembly process. Ensure all scrap is tagged and reported accordingly per standard work.
- Maintain productivity, scrap, and rework standards on each assembly.
- Responsible for the proper maintenance of assigned equipment and tools.
- Understand the process of SQDIP and how to use it to document issues.
- Understands and passes test of 85% or better in ESD and works accordingly.
- Understands and passes test of 85% or better in 4E and works accordingly
- Responsible for Inventory accuracy and control within assigned section by the correct use of Kanban for the intended function: Must pass test with 75% or better.
- Pulling from the correct bins following FIFO.
- Placing bins/Kanban cards in proper location once emptied .
- Ensuring bins only have parts (no personal items, water bottles etc).
- Passes test of 85% or better in 5S and utilizes 5S in the work area keeping it clean and well organized. Return all tools, fixtures, supplies and other equipment to their proper storage areas.
- Work cross functionally with other departments, including Engineering, Quality and other Support Staff as needed to improve product quality and production efficiency.
- Build and maintain good working relations with other team members. Using crucial conversations to work thru issues and find amenable solutions to issues that arise.
- Help to train other associates on lines that you are trained on when needed.

General Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required. Degree or certificate from certified electronics program is preferred.
- Three to six months of assembly experience preferred.
- Computer experience and basic keyboard functions required. Has the ability to learn and use x-rite tools and programs.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination (ability to handle small components accurately); excellent dexterity required.
- Must be able to stand/walk up to 80% of the day.
- Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, work instructions, and specifications. Requires familiarity with, and the ability to use, common hand and power tools.
- May be required to lift heavy (over 30 lbs.) objects. Work with chemicals using proper safety protocols.
- Ability to effectively perform the above mentioned essential job functions.
- Must be able to communicate issues in an effective and quick manner at the cell SQDIP.
- Perform all other tasks as deemed necessary per supervisor or lead.
